As Medical Officer of Health and Director of Primary Health Care in the Cayman Islands, my role includes addressing key policy issues and health protection and promotion programs geared towards improving the country’s health profile. For the past 27 years, I have served various roles in the country's healthcare system. I have seen the changing demographics and health status through the many initiatives and programs implemented to improve the standard of living for all people in these islands. Whilst the country has a role in setting and maintaining health policies and programs to improve healthcare and well being, health is also a personal responsibility. Each and every individual must make a determined effort to take charge of their health. I commend the members of the GIS team who are participating in this program. Our workplace health promotion program is available at no cost to workplaces and I encourage all businesses in the Cayman Islands to take advantage of it . Phone: (345) 244 2621 |

I am a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner whose main focus is directed towards promoting and maintaining health. Taking the Challenge is one of the most important decisions they have made. I am a certified spinning instructor (Body Training Systems Group Ride & Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Indoor cycling has a stigma attached to it. Most people think spinning is too hard to handle. But they're wrong! Indoor cycling is for everyone from beginners to the most elite athlete. You are alwayts in control of what you do. Although you are in a group setting, it is very individualized as the participant is the one controlling his/her resistance. Having said this, the biggest hurdle is the saddle. I can’t think of any other activity that might get you in the position you are in on a bicycle, so the muscles do need to get used to it. Phone: (345) 526-5052 |

As the health promotion officer at the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, my training, professional experiences, and direct responsibilities have allowed me a broad scope of knowledge in dealing with all aspects of promoting good health. My current responsibilities include developing and implementing programs to ensure healthy lifestyles among our population, improve the quality of life of our people and reduce the behavorial health risks The keys to a healthy lifestyle are entirely in your hands. With busy schedules, keeping your mind, body and soul healthy can be a major challenge. However, don’t let the hectic pace of life keep you from living yours to the fullest. In addition, set realistic goals! It doesn’t take a radical change in your behavior to start living a healthier lifestyle. For many individuals it takes just simple adjustments to be on the road to a happy, healthy, safe and balanced life. There may be challenges along the way and sometimes the goals set may seem even more challenging than first anticipated but it is important to keep the goal in mind and take manageable steps along the way.
