You Are What You Eat!

Submitted by Heather on Wed, 2009-09-30 11:06

Everyone has heard the old saying, you are what you eat. But do you remember everything you eat? I know I don’t! I did recall an assignment from a step aerobics class back at Michigan State. The instructor asked the class to keep a daily dairy of what we ate. Nothing fancy, just a notebook, where you jotted down breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the snacks in between. I even added how much water I drank and what exercise I did. So I decided to do the same thing ten years later. I find that I pay closer attention to what I put in my body when I know I have to write it down. I plan to share this notebook with Bethany Smith (our nutritionist’s who is listed under the expert tab.) That way, she can point out what I’m doing right and what I need more of…do I need more fiber? More protein? Am I eating at every level of the food pyramids teachers taught me back at Washington Elementary School? The only way to find out is to write it down. And no cheating!
