Water Baby
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved the water. I spent the majority of the summer in my grandparent's pool. My grandfather was once in the Navy (As a matter of fact, he was in last segregated unit.) He was a natural born swimmer, and passed that gene to my father who created a water polo team with his brothers and cousins. So, it was no surprise that at age two or three, they introduced me to the water, I took off like a little mermaid.
Here in Cayman, the sea surrounds us and offers many ways to workout. Snorkleing, swimming, and scuba diving are fun ways to explore our underwater world and get fit at the same time. This week, I discoverd another way to become one with the water...water aerobics! At first I thought it wouldn't be much of a workout, but a few minutes into the routine, I could feel my heart beat speeding up and my muscles getting sore. And the best part was that I wasn't burning up! (So my "it's too hot" to workout excuse went down the drain!)
My co-worker Charles and I can't stop spreading the word about our experience. We had a ball and even kickboxed, biked, and ran in the Grand Pavilion pool. This morning, I went snorkeling and used some of the techniques in the water (especially the bike to get away from the HUGE stingray I spotted!)
