Excuses, Excuses!
It’s too early…it’s too hot…it’s too tough…everyone is advanced…There are 101 excuses on why NOT to go to boot camp, so I thought I would give you one of why you should: It works! Although I am a boot camp drop out, when I was enrolled, I lost about five pounds in a month and ran around a ten minute mile. (Last time I checked, I clocked a 9:30…yay Heather…when a friend, who went to a real deal military boot camp, pushed me to the finish line.) When I was an Adventure Boot Camp participant, I didn’t follow the strict diet and drank alcohol on the weekends, and still felt the positive effects of exercise. It taught me that I can do cardio, something I feared after I graduated from college. It also boasted my energy level. I don’t know how to explain it, but I felt my heart get healthier. You even breathe easier! You can feel the air filling your lungs and moving through your rock hard body, refreshing everything along the way! I’m not sure if I would attend boot camp everyday, but one day was a start, and I plan to go for an entire week, and then sign up again for a month. But the most important thing I learned from my military friend is that exercise is mind over matter. You have to tell your body that you can run a mile, make it through a 60 minute class, and reach your goal. If you can’t run the entire way, set a reachable goal. If you’re walking on the road, run one pole, then walk one…or run two or three poles and then walk one. Each step takes you closer to the finish line!
