Balancing Act
I recently read an article about how your diet dramatically affects your weight. So despite hours on the treadmill, you may not go anywhere on the road to weight loss. When some people embark on that journey, they tend to eliminate entire food groups. For instance, a few years ago, everyone cut carbs. One of my aunts drank her breakfast and lunch and ate only a sensible dinner; and a close friend ate cereal twice a day. And a coworker (He’ll be anonymous, but he knows who he is!) told me he inhaled only raw vegetables once. He says he spent more time in the bathroom than in the office! That may work if you’re trying to squeeze into a wedding dress, but can you fit all the clothes in your closet on a regular basis? And how healthy is banning beef or other products from your grocery list? I asked one of the GIS: Get in Shape experts how to maintain a balanced diet. Click on the video above to hear what Bethany Smith, the Community Dietician and Nutritionist at the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, had to say about the subject.
