The Art of Packing
Hi, my name is Heather, and I'm an eat out aholic. In a five day work week, I eat out at least four times. Our offices are located in the George Town Harbour so there are several selections a hop, skip, and a jump away. Although I eat out, I don't make unhealthy choices the majority of the time. I order salads, wraps, smoothies, etc. Nonetheless, I probably took in hidden calories from what I deem as healthy foods (i.e. sandwich dressings, cream based soups, sugar added to fruit drinks, etc.)
So, one of my goals for the Get in Shape 90 day program is to pack my lunch. Surprisingly, it isn't as hard as I thought. I pack my meals four times a week and treat myself to a restaurant on the other day. I am not bored with my selections and mix up different fruits, pastas, sandwiches, and snacks. I keep almonds and granola bars in my desk drawer, to conquer my cravings. I've became quite a creative chef and added avocados and red peppers to sandwiches and orange slices or mint leaves to my water (which I now drink 6-8 servings!)
Packing a lunch only takes a few minutes in the morning, and I usually do so while making breakfast. And besides the benefits to my health, it benefits my bank account. Grocery shopping is cheaper than footing the bill at fancy restaurants!
