Water Baby

Submitted by Heather on Thu, 2009-10-08 10:35

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved the water. I spent the majority of the summer in my grandparent's pool. My grandfather was once in the Navy (As a matter of fact, he was in last segregated unit.) He was a natural born swimmer, and passed that gene to my father who created a water polo team with his brothers and cousins. So, it was no surprise that at age two or three, they introduced me to the water, I took off like a little mermaid.

Videographer Vacation

Submitted by Heather on Thu, 2009-10-08 10:22

I would like to put my videographers on blast this morning. As you can see from the photo, they do an excellent job shooting video to illustrate our journey to get in shape. However, this does not take up the full 60 minutes. Often times, you can find them at the water cooler or laughing at me breaking a sweat. Sometimes they do cheer me on as I leap over boot camp cones and play the air guitar in dance class. But this is a GROUP competition, correct? Let's give the videographers a big push to jump in (or perhaps I should have pushed him in the pool.

Boot Camp

Submitted by Karl on Wed, 2009-10-07 08:54

After rubbing the sleep out of my eyes at 10 to 5 in the morning, and driving to the Cayman International School at Caymana Bay I woke up find people excitedly getting ready to get their bodies moving. I had arrived at Boot Camp. No I wasn't participating, just shooting video, but I did have to run around trying to keep up with everyone. It looked like a lot of fun, and I think I may have to actually sign up for a class.

Portion Control?

Submitted by Greg on Tue, 2009-10-06 18:01

I have never been a fan of portion control. (I am the one on the left in the picture.) But recently I have been adding alot of vegetables to my meals in the evening, and sometimes when I bring my lunch in the next day to work. I find that the vegetables do a great job of making the meals seem bigger. For instance, today I had some vegetables with salmon. And the portion of salmon was quite reasonable, but the vegetables added more volume. I understand this type of eating, if that is what you want to call it, is refered to as "volumetrics". So take it from me, someone who tried to eat a 5lb.
