Calorie counts while eating out?!?!?!

Submitted by Greg on Fri, 2009-10-09 11:20

So picture this, you are at your favourite fast food joint, or fine dining place, and....gasp!!!!! CALORIE COUNTS ON THE MENU!!! The horror! Doesn't that infringe on my personal right to caloric ignorance?
That is the situation in some states across the US. Doing some research I found two contradicting news stories about wether it affects food choices.

Snacking

Submitted by Karl on Thu, 2009-10-08 16:43

Today I was really trying to pay attention to what i ate. It's really tough. I guess I noticed but really didn't pay much attention to my snacking, but today when I WAS paying attention I had to stop myself from picking up a snack because it was convenient numerous times. Every excuse in the world popped into my head as to why I could just have one snack...Old Habits die hard. Oh, thanks by the way for whoever left a dish of candies in the lunch room. I resisted, but barely.

It's Cornelia's Birthday, but What's Your Excuse?

Submitted by Heather on Thu, 2009-10-08 12:42

As you can see, this is a very blurry picture. When people found out about cake in the kitchen, they moved at the speed of light....probably the most exercise they've had all week. There was a near riot as they forked over the box, fighting for the last slice. (OK, OK, I admit it I had the 2nd to last slice!!!

Today is my birthday and I can have carrot cake if I want to

Submitted by Cornelia on Thu, 2009-10-08 12:23

So, this morning I got breakfast in bed. Bacon, sausage, egg AND toast. Relax everyone, I did read the nutrition labels and by my count, I can start eating again by noon tomorrow.
Then my husband sent a cake to work, and now my calorie allowance is backed-up until Saturday.
But it's my birthday and I will have my cake and eat it too!!!!
PS: My ever supportive husband did ask the lady at Icoa if she can make the cake healthy and she said: "Uh, sir we guarantee taste, so, no that is not possible." So, yes, Get In Shapers, it has carrots in, but you CANNOT count it as a vegetable serving.
